Christmas Tree Decoration DIY Tradition

laurenchristmas1Tradition in my family is creating a new and exciting Christmas tree decorations every year at my parents’ house! Christmas 2015 my Mother and I created a “rustic” tree complete with antique rusted stars, pretty white lights and homemade orange sliced ornaments!

These orange slice ornaments are easy to create if you are feeling in the festive mood, and they make your home smell wonderful! Here are some step by step instructions to make your home a little bit merrier!

laurenchristmas2Step One: Gather your supplies! You will need oranges, mod podge, cranberries, cinnamon sticks, mistletoe, holly, a glue gun, ornament hooks and a dehydrator (you can also bake them).

Step Two: Slice oranges nice and thin and place in your dehydrator (or you can bake them in the oven at 160 degrees for two hours turning halfway through if preferred).

Step Three: Check your dehydrator (or oven) and remove when still slightly bendable. Allow to cool.

Step Four: Paint both sides of your orange slices with Mod Podge, and let dry overnight. This makes them sturdy.

Step Five: Decorate the orange slices using cinnamon sticks, holly, mistletoe, and cranberries using a glue gun and hang with regular ornament hooks.

And that’s all it takes to make your own ornaments that are not only very pretty but also make your home smell heavenly.
