Elissa Maynard, DDS
I am thrilled to be here and to have the opportunity to work with such a talented and hard-working team. As I begin my work here, I thought that patients might like to know a few things about me. My name is Dr. Elissa Maynard. Like Dr. Russell and Dr. Bode, I graduated from the University of Washington School of Dentistry. I have been practicing dentistry for 10 years in community health and private practice settings. I feel like I’ve found my dream practice here and am looking forward to getting to know all of you.
I completed my undergraduate degree at Saint Martins College in 2005 where I graduated as the Valedictorian. I am a member of the American Dental Association, the Washington State Dental Association and the Thurston-Mason County Dental Society. I am a past President of the Lewis County Dental Society and was inducted into the Pierre Fauchard Academy, an international honorary dental organization in 2017.
I am committed to lifelong learning and enjoy being a member of a local Spear Study Club. I’m passionate about improving the health and social welfare of our community. I worked for 8 years in community health in Chehalis and Raymond, WA. I volunteer annually at local Give Kids a Smile and Kids Kloset events and served as the Assistant Director of the Seattle King County Free Dental Clinic in 2015.
A little about me personally…
Why dentistry? Initially a love of learning and wanting to work in a serving profession. I enjoy science and making things pretty (including teeth). Now, I find that I really enjoy the teamwork and challenge of running a business and working collaboratively to improve the health of our patients.
What are my values? Integrity, kindness, open-heartedness, pursuing excellence, collaboration, generosity and humility.
What do you do outside of the office? My passions outside of work include my husband of 10 years – Tyson Maynard – we’ve been together 17 years. Tyson owns Thurston Built, a local residential construction business. My daughter Ava, who is 4, recently learned to ride her bike without training wheels, color inside the lines and wants to grow up and become a “Mommy.” I love staying active – I have too many outdoor hobbies to keep up with currently, so for now I lift weights, tinker as an amateur gardener and go on family walks with an occasional trip to the mountain, camping or the beach. When I retire, I won’t lack for hobbies.
Where am I from? I grew up in Spanaway, WA and went to Bethel High School. My dad was a lineman. My mom worked for Weyerhauser as an administrative assistant. They lived in Spanaway so they could have horses and a larger property. I played a lot of sports growing up, was in the band (clarinet and oboe) and I rode horses. I have one older brother who lives in Bonney Lake. I’m the youngest in our family, a proud Norwegian and Washingtonian.
I’m looking forward to getting to know all of you and am grateful to have this opportunity!
