Advanced Technology

When you seek care at our office, you are assured that Dr. Bode, Dr. Russell and the staff of Russell and Bode Family Dentistry utilize the latest in technology to enhance the quality and fit for your dental care.

3M™ True Definition Scanner

Over 95% of all crown and bridge cases at our office are fabricated using 3M™ True Definition Scanner technology. Most implant crown and abutments are also impressed using the scanner.  The 3M™ True Definition Scanner allows us to digitally scan the tooth to make the impression instead of using the traditional impression material – the “gooey” stuff. Our system of digitally scanning the tooth helps eliminate gagging.  The digital scan eliminates distortion of the traditional impression material and stone models.  The result is crowns fit better and require less adjustments – if any.

Advanced Precision Dentistry Technology

Digital Imaging

Dr. Bode and Dr. Russell choose carefully which and when radiographs are taken. There are many guidelines that we follow.  Radiographs enable us to detect cavities in between your teeth, determine bone level, and analyze the health of your bone. We can also examine the roots and nerves of teeth, diagnose lesions such as cysts or tumors, as well as assess damage when trauma occurs.

Dental radiographs are invaluable tools in diagnosing, treating, and maintaining dental health. Exposure time for dental radiographs is extremely minimal. Dr. Bode and Dr. Russell utilize Digital Imaging Technologies within the office.  Digital imaging allows us to store patient images, and enables us to quickly and easily transfer them to specialists or insurance companies.  Digital X-rays offer more precision since we view the image on a computer monitor, instead of holding up a 35mm film up to the light. Digital X-rays results in 1/6th the radiation exposure to you.

Laser Dentistry

For patients who do not look forward to needles, drilling, or numbness, Laser Dentistry may be the right choice.

Laser dentistry is one of dentistry’s latest advances. The laser delivers energy in the form of light. Depending on the intended result, this energy travels at different wavelengths and is absorbed by a “target.”  Each one absorbs a different wavelength of light while reflecting others. Laser dentistry can be used for both tooth and soft tissue related procedures. Oftentimes no local anesthesia is required.  For soft tissue (surgical) procedures it eliminates the need for suturing and healing is much faster.

Areas of dental care that benefit from laser technology:

  • Removal of fibromas
  • Sensitive teeth
  • Apthous Ulcer treatment (canker sore)
  • Gingivectomy (removing overgrown gum tissue) and other gum corrections

Intraoral Camera

Many patients, especially younger patients, are very familiar with the latest technology and are comfortable with the high tech practice. Computers and TV screens are their primary method of information processing.

Dr. Bode and Dr. Russell utilize intraoral camera technology that helps enhance your understanding of your diagnosis. An intraoral camera is a very small camera – in some cases, just a few millimeters long. An intraoral camera allows our practice to view clear, precise images of your mouth, teeth and gums, in order for us to accurately make a diagnosis.

Intra oral cameras also enable our practice to save your images in our office computer to provide a permanent record of treatments. These images can be printed for you, other specialists, and your lab or insurance companies.

3D Imaging

The Instrumentarium OS300 system gives practice state-of-the-art technology to help Dr. Bode and Dr. Russell diagnose potential issues more accurately and provide treatment with unprecedented confidence. Specifically the OS300 aids in the diagnosis, planning, and treatment of patients needing implants and others who are at risk of sleep apnea.  Unlike a traditional spiral CT scanner, this 3D system utilizes cone beam CT technology and provides precise, crystal-clear digital images while minimizing your exposure to radiation. Our new 3D system enables us to perform a wider range of diagnoses and treatments in our office, helping to reduce multiple visits. The OS300 allows us to choose the field of view, or scanning area, that best suits your specific treatment needs. This helps to limit your radiation exposure because we are focusing specifically on your area of concern. The OS300 system brings the latest 3D technology to Russell and Bode Family Dentistry, providing unmatched visualization of anatomical detail which aids in treatment planning and helps us to better explain the particulars of your case, as well as address any questions you may have. Dr. Bode and Russell can use this innovative technology to quickly and easily share 3D images of the area of concern with your referring doctor – allowing the doctors to collaborate on your care, improving your experience, and delivering a positive treatment outcome.
